Christmas Shopping

So, here we are, 10 days before Christmas.  Have I done any Christmas shopping, the hell I have.  Have I opened my Folksy shop to get some money for Christmas shopping.  The hell I have.

It took me a good week to get my head back in gear after the madness of the Craft Fairs.  The house looked like a tornado in a junk shop, hospital and audiology appointments...(which was seriously upsetting news)  , demands of oldies....and then...and then...just as I'm getting in gear, I get the most angry sinus infection.  I feel like I have sniffed the entire contents of a swimming pool. Hurts.  So even if I had been offered a lift to the Benham Forkless Buffet on sunday I wouldn't have made it.

Anyway...today, Christmas shopping, after I have hopefully ended the search for a comfy new pair of jeans. Having searched the charity shops high and low, am off to Asda as they  seem to be the only store who makes jeans for my body shape...no bum, no waist. Off I go.  10 am I have 3 pairs of jeans, 12, 14, reg, short, bootcut, straight.  Off to the fitting rooms.

Customer notice.  Fitting rooms open at 11am.  What the!  I  point out to an assistant how inconvenient this is, ask politely if I could sneak in and try on my Jeans.  No way.  So resign myself to wander around, then remember I wanted to look at the slow cookers, saw the Asda one online, just the job.

Off I go, clutching 3 pairs of jeans to the slow cooker department.
Do they have the slow cooker I want. Not an Asda slow cooker to be had.
Its obviously not my day.  Oh I forgot to mention that on my way to Asda I followed the recycling lorry....very slowly through Stapleton.!!  Which was just as well I suppose because I would have had to carry the damn jeans around for even longer.
Anyway, very pleased to say I found a pair that fit lovely....apart from being too long...didn't have them them in short.  Snother job for the sewing machine.
And...on a plus note I found some of those lovely comfy lazy bras.  Lazy, not lacy.  Pull on, no hooks, and those funny removable padded triangles.
Don't quite head them in the right direction but at at my age that's the least of my worries!

So next port of call is to the MIL, Joan.  Haven't seen her for weeks, however not for want of trying.   Hooray, she is in...with the most eye catching new hall and stair carpet.  It certainly woke me up.  Black, red and cream stripes. The old carpet was red so she wanted to stick to a familiar colour.  Bless.  Wont show the dirt anyway.

Next stop Aldi.  Pleased to say I made inroads with the shopping list.....hope I dont drink it all before the 25th!!

Hello Again

Wow, I just remembered this blog....cant believe its 2012 since I last posted.  Haha, that sounds like a confession!
So much has changed since then, mostly for the better, but being a deaf old cow, and other hearing related complications...... has had a massive impact on my  life.

I am still crafting, and up til now have continued with the Craft Fairs, but my hearing problems and the stress it causes has made me decide to give up the fairs and go for online selling.  Humph, going to have to completely rethink my work ethic for that.  Up til now networking has been a necessary evil, but it will have to become my daily routine.  I think I can live with that though.  Snuggled up on the sofa with Kitty, drinking tea by the fire.  Yes, I think I can manage that!

So, it will re-opening my Folksy Shop and opening the Etsy one which I got set up, but that was as far as I got!

I am planning to gradually wind down the Jewellery side of Woobeadhoo, apart from some chunky, leather and copper creations that are floating round in my head. There is so much jewellery out there now, I have become a tad jaded with it all.

I am instead going to go back to my first love, and shall concentrate on the textiles and leather that is gradually  taking over my spare room!

I have also been playing with recycled copper wire recently.  Oxidizing , beating and hammering, and hoping to have a go at soldering.  I have flux and a blowtorch all ready!

Chunky semi-precious stones and leather, mixed with recycled copper wire look great together, so this will be the theme of my new collections.

So, there you have it.  I have two more fairs to go, then it be Network, Network Network!!!     Will keep you posted ....promise.   xxx
